Astellar Accolade for the Accessible "Hotel 1601" Along the Werra Valley Bike Path

Thuringia honors Hotel along Werratal cycling path with Inclusion Award - annual award titled the Thuringia Inclusion Prize is presented to a hotel situated along the Werratal-Radweg bike trail

Crank up the inclusivity! Let's celebrate the "Hotel 1601" nestled in Treffurt, Wartburg district, for bagging this year's Thuringian Inclusive Accolade. This sustainability-focused, barrier-free hotel, serving as a popular pitstop for cyclists treading the Werra Valley path, was honored during the Thuringian Day bash in Gotha. The hotel's ethos, shedding light on the inclusive design of workspaces and travel, was applauded during the ceremony.

A large chunk of Hotel 1601's staff are individuals living with disabilities. As for runners-up, the Music Association 1. Thuringian Gugge Musician Apolda took the second spot, whereas the Verein St. Trinitatis, hailing from Altengottern in the Unstrut-Hainich district, snatched the third place. Amid the competitive field of 23 applicants across clubs, associations, and businesses from every nook of Thuringia, all vying for the award with a 6,000 euro prize pool, it was an eyebrow-raising contest.

The award, rolled out every two years, aims to salute outstanding, cutting-edge projects and initiatives that strengthen the bond between people with and without disabilities. The award's ethos stems from the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities' objective, focused on the integration of inclusion within social life. The State Commissioner for People with Disabilities, Joachim Leibiger, underscored this sentiment emphatically.
