Almost four out of ten Russians intend to stay at home for all holiday celebrations.
Hitting the Road or Chilling at Home: Russian May Holiday Plans
May holidays are right around the corner, and folks are busy making travel plans, or simply eagerly awaiting the break. According to data gathered by KP.RU, a significant number of Russians have their weeks mapped out already.
One-third of the respondents dubbed their holiday at home as their top pick. With nothing on the itinerary but perhaps a stroll or a barbecue should the weather cooperate, these folks are all set to unwind at home.
A wet and chilly atmosphere might discourage some from venturing to their dacha, one survey participant suggested.
Marking their calendars with irrevocable plans, 27% of the respondents are determined to head to their dacha. Despite the weather's whims, they're ready to sow seeds, spruce up the house and garden, and wind down around a charcoal grill with friends and neighbors.
"If the skies clear and warm up, I'll be planting peppers and tomatoes in the greenhouse," one enthusiastic homeowner shared.
More hands-on folks (16%) see the holidays as a therapeutic opportunity to catch up on work. A few lean on a flexible schedule, while others punch in for double pay, working on holidays.
"I'll be working, the pay is double during holidays," one participant highlighted.
A groan echoed among those eyeing their mounting to-do lists (13%). Scrubbing off long-neglected chores or tackling minor repairs, these folks see the break as a golden opportunity to get things done.
4% of respondents are packing their bags for journeys within Russia, and another 2% plan to escape abroad. The remaining 1% rolled out their wildcard options.
The survey was conducted among KP.RU's subscribers on VKontakte, Odnoklassniki, Telegram, and Viber, involving a total of 5,400 participants.
