Allgäu's winter tourism booms with record overnight stays and snow

The Allgäu region has recorded its strongest winter season in years. Hotels reported high occupancy, with around 2.1 million overnight stays—a 5% increase compared to last year. Both visitors and businesses praised the conditions across the area. Tourism experts and hotel operators described occupancy rates as high to very high throughout the season. According to data from the Federal Statistical Office and the Allgäu Tourism Association, the region saw roughly 2.1 million overnight stays between December 2024 and March 2025. This marked a 5% rise from the previous winter.

Maximilian Hillmeier, director of tourism for Bad Hindelang, pointed to excellent snow conditions as the main reason for success. The ski slopes, cross-country trails, and sledding runs remained in top shape all season. Guests repeatedly expressed satisfaction with the winter activities on offer. The well-maintained facilities contributed to the positive feedback. Many visitors highlighted the variety of sports and leisure options available. Hotels and resorts also benefited from the steady stream of tourists, filling rooms well into the spring.

The Allgäu's winter tourism sector has closed a successful season. With 2.1 million overnight stays and a 5% growth rate, the region outperformed the previous year. Strong snow coverage and well-prepared facilities ensured high visitor satisfaction and strong business for local hotels.
