AD Magazine's November Issue Celebrates Traditional Homes with Modern Twists

The November issue of Architectural Digest (AD) Magazine presents a captivating collection of homes that seam can blend traditional elements with innovative design. The magazine features five residences, each offering a unique interpretation of tradition.

In the heart of Kitzbühel, The Rope studio has reimagined an alpine chalet, eschewing clichéd design tropes. Instead, they've embraced international influences and unexpected materials like bog oak, creating a space that is both rooted and progressive.

Studio Dragò in Milan has transformed a Hollywood executive's pied-à-terre into a sanctuary with a 'dual identity'. The apartment is both hidden and cosmopolitan, self-contained yet fluid, a testament to the studio's ability to adapt spaces to their inhabitants' needs.

Harry Nuriev and Tyler Billinger have revived an old Tuscan house and its surrounding 53 hectares of land. Their interior design incorporates unexpected elements like chrome, while also honouring the region's deeply rooted olive cultivation tradition. The couple's vision has turned the property into a thriving olive grove, managed by Tyler's parents.

In Rome, architect Marco Ricci has infused contemporary life into the ancient Palazzo Taverna. By respecting its historic fabric, Ricci has breathed new life into the palace without compromising its rich heritage.

Meanwhile, architect Max Eisenköck and art historian Caroline Wohlgemuth have restored the iconic Villa Rezek in Vienna to its former glory. Their sensitive restoration has preserved the villa's status as an icon of Austrian Modernism.

The November issue of AD Magazine showcases these remarkable homes, each a testament to the power of tradition when interpreted through innovative design. These residences prove that history and modernity can coexist harmoniously, creating spaces that are both timeless and contemporary.
