Aarau's Schachen pool opens earlier in 2026 with adjusted admission fees

Aarau's Schachen outdoor pool will introduce earlier opening times for the 2026 season. The facility will welcome swimmers at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a change following a successful trial last summer. Alongside this, admission prices will rise to help cover growing expenses.

The decision to open earlier came after a pilot programme in summer 2025. Feedback from visitors and staff confirmed demand for pre-work swimming sessions. No other public outdoor pools in Switzerland currently offer similar early access on weekdays.

Admission fees will increase next season to match rates at comparable pools. The adjustment aims to ensure that half of the pool's operating costs are funded by ticket sales. Officials stated the change would help maintain services while keeping prices in line with regional standards.

From 2026, swimmers in Aarau will have more early-morning options on two weekdays. The price rise will support the pool's financial stability, with half its costs covered by visitor revenue. The move follows positive results from last year's trial and sets Schachen-Bad apart from other Swiss outdoor pools.
