AA in Sverdlovsk Oblast expands despite gaps in rural support
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) activity in the Sverdlovsk Oblast region is growing, though some areas still lack regular meetings. While cities like Nowouralsk and Suchoi Log currently have no active groups, nearby locations have seen new developments. Recent updates include anniversary celebrations, new online meetings, and an upcoming large event in May. In early March, the NAASHI group marked its 8th anniversary. Later that month, on March 21, the Kvartal group in Berezovsky celebrated five years of meetings.
A new online meeting format was introduced when the Doveriye group held its first open session on March 26. Meanwhile, in Ekaterinburg's Ordzhonikidzevsky District, AA information boards were updated in two local institutions. Despite the lack of active groups in Nowouralsk and Suchoi Log, two meetings do appear in the data. The New Life group gathers every Saturday at 3:30 PM in Novouralsk, while the Shaanti group meets at 6:00 PM on Saturdays in Sukhoy Log. A larger regional event is also planned for May 15–17, which may draw attendees from areas without regular meetings.
The region shows a mix of long-standing and newly formed AA groups, though gaps remain in certain cities. The upcoming May event could help connect individuals from areas with limited access to meetings. For now, those seeking support in Nowouralsk and Suchoi Log must travel to nearby locations or join online sessions.
