In the heart of Wiesbaden, a remarkable figure named Marianne Berndsen continues to captivate the community with her spirit of adventure and profound interest in art and culture.

Marianne, a centenarian mountaineer, has been a member of the German Alpine Club since 1948. Her passion for the mountains has led her to conquer over 150 peaks higher than 3000 meters, including three four-thousanders. One of her most notable feats was climbing the Grossglockner without taking any water, instead relying on snow for hydration.

Apart from her mountaineering exploits, Marianne also finds solace in the world of art and culture. Her collection of thousands of slides from her travels serves as a testament to her cultural curiosity. She has a strong affinity for the Breitorn, which she considers at least as beautiful as the Matterhorn.

Marianne's love for Wiesbaden is evident in her regular attendance at local events. She is a frequent guest at the Rheingau Wine Festival, having attended almost every year for nearly 50 years.

The city is also gearing up for a special celebration. The Rheingau Quarter, a cherished part of Wiesbaden, is turning 100, and a birthday celebration is planned to mark the occasion.

In addition to these cultural events, Wiesbaden is set to host an Oldtimer Meeting on Kerbeplatz in Wiesbaden-Freudenberg on August 24. The event will feature vehicles aged 30 and above.

For those seeking a taste of traditional Bavarian culture, there's an ice stock shooting event at the "Almhütte" Martha on the Neroberg. The event will follow the 2G rule and is scheduled to start on October 30. The Nerobergbahn, a popular attraction, will reopen for the 2025 season on Good Friday. However, it will close for the winter break after November 3.

Marianne Berndsen's story is a testament to the enduring spirit of adventure and the joy of cultural exploration. Her journey serves as an inspiration to all, reminding us that it's never too late to pursue our passions and embrace new experiences.
