A Tribeca Duplex Transforms Into a Social Hub for a Young Couple

Inna Khidekel and Bert van der Walt have settled into a Tribeca duplex after initially planning a move to Florida. The couple bought the property in early 2022, marking their first home in New York City. Their decision to stay came after Khidekel's employer requested she remain in Manhattan.

The pandemic prompted Khidekel and van der Walt to consider relocating to Florida. However, work commitments changed their plans, keeping them in the city. They soon purchased a duplex in a historic 1881 cast-iron building, once a textile factory.

The structure had been redesigned in 2019 by architect Shigeru Ban. To tailor the space to their needs, the couple enlisted interior designer Timothy Godbold. Their brief was clear: a home suited for entertaining, reflecting their youthful lifestyle.

The duplex now serves as both a residence and a social hub. Its blend of historic architecture and modern design aligns with the couple's vision. Their decision to stay in Manhattan has given them a space that fits their professional and personal lives.
