Art from Bicycle Junk: New Selfie Station in Ulsnis - A Selfie Station Made of Recycled Bike Parts Draws Cyclists to Ulsnis
A new selfie station made from recycled bicycle parts has appeared in Ulsnis, near the Schlei fjord. The striking structure stands nearly 2.5 metres tall and offers cyclists a scenic spot for photos. It forms part of a wider effort to boost cycling tourism in the region.
The eye-catching installation overlooks the Schlei fjord in Schleswig-Flensburg. Designed for day-trippers and cyclists, it encourages visitors to pause and capture memories. The project is tied to the Radreiseregion (Cycling Travel Region) initiative, which seeks official certification from the German Cycling Association (ADFC).
Funding for the scheme comes from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, with €200,000 allocated. The money will also improve local bike paths, enhancing routes for both residents and tourists. While no other art installations from recycled bike parts have been reported along German cycling routes, this selfie station stands out as a creative addition.
The selfie station adds a playful touch to the region's cycling network. With certification from the ADFC still pending, the initiative aims to attract more visitors to Schleswig-Flensburg. Better bike paths and unique stops like this could make the area a more appealing destination for cyclists.
