A Paris Apartment Transforms With Japandi-Inspired Elegance and Warmth

An 870-square-foot apartment in Paris has received a fresh, Japandi-inspired redesign. Interior designer Alice Lacherez led the transformation, blending minimalist Japanese influences with Scandinavian warmth. The result is a space that feels both modern and inviting.

The project involved collaboration with Galerie Incuntra, which helped select art and objects to enhance the apartment’s character.

The apartment, originally built in the 1970s, underwent significant changes to soften its rigid layout. Curved passageways were introduced to create a more fluid connection between rooms. Light oak, mineral materials, and clean lines formed the foundation of the redesign, drawing inspiration from Japanese aesthetics.

Playful details, such as zigzag motifs, were scattered throughout the space to add visual interest. In the living area, a custom-designed island with an integrated banquette unified the kitchen and seating area. The kitchen backsplash was clad in mirror, reflecting the mirrored entryway and boosting natural light.

The bedroom now features an expansive oak headboard that stretches across the entire wall, reinforcing the warm, cohesive feel. Meanwhile, the bathroom’s beige tiles are accented by a narrow, contrasting border, adding subtle depth to the design.

Art and carefully chosen objects, including Japanese-inspired pieces, were placed throughout the apartment. These elements, combined with rustic touches, give the space a curated yet lived-in atmosphere.

The redesign has turned a once-typical 1970s apartment into a stylish, functional home. Light materials, thoughtful layouts, and artistic details create a balance between simplicity and warmth. The Japandi influence ensures the space remains both elegant and comfortable for daily living.
