His environmental consciousness shines brightest in the album "The Satellite Town." When Roman general Quadratus carves a cross into a tree, Idefix retaliates with a well-placed bite. When the first tree for the planned satellite town is felled, he faints with a sorrowful "JAUUUL."
Although the breed of Idefix has been kept a secret, comic experts suspect a White Schnauzer, Maltese, and West Highland White Terrier mix. But in the end, Idefix is truly a Gallic dog, small in stature, big in character, who has been weaving comic history with his howls and heart for 60 years.
