A Delhi apartment reimagined as a princess’s regal sanctuary

A 2,100 sq ft apartment in Delhi’s Jorbagh neighbourhood has been transformed into a regal retreat. Aanchal Mittal, founder of Aasa Concepts, drew inspiration from the idea of a princess in exile. The redesign blends rich heritage elements with modern comforts.

The dining room centres around a 45-year-old Pichwai painting, setting a bold tone for the space. Sepia-tinted miniatures and deep jewel tones run throughout, evoking a sense of timeless elegance. Intricate shutters conceal the flatscreen TV, maintaining the room’s vintage charm.

Low-profile couches and rattan daybeds offer relaxed seating, while statement chandeliers add drama overhead. Maximalist gallery walls showcase an eclectic mix of art, balancing opulence with everyday usability. Mittal, known for her sustainable and innovative approach, ensured the design remained both striking and practical.

The apartment now stands as a carefully curated blend of tradition and contemporary living. Its mix of handcrafted details and functional spaces reflects Mittal’s vision of a home fit for modern royalty. The project highlights how heritage-inspired design can adapt to daily life without losing its grandeur.
