A children's book depicting the life of a legendary Kazakh hero is unveiled in Almaty.

Fresh Take:

Hey there! 👋 A new children's book titled "Yer Karmys" has made its debut in Almaty! Written by the talented author Sandugash Tagabergenova, this book is inspired by the 19th-century epic poem penned by Kalniyaz Shopekuly.

Sandugash spent a whopping two years delving into historical research to bring Yer Karmys' heroic image and fascinating history to life on the pages of this book. An impressive 10,000 copies of this heart-stirring tale are set to roll off the printing presses.

The unveiling ceremony was a star-studded affair graced by notable Kazakh writers, project patrons, and students from the Suleiman Demirel College. Almaty.tv gathered all the scoop on the event!

"At 75 years old, Yer Karmys fought in a legendary battle," beamed Sandugash, the book's creator. She continued, "Our history is filled with fearless heroes who fought valiantly for our nation. It's vital for children to learn about our heritage so they can appreciate the bravery of these iconic batyrs whose names and deeds live on forever in our memories."

By the end of September, you'll be able to find this inspiring book on bookstore shelves across the city. Sandugash isn’t stopping there. She's also planning to develop an animated adaptation of the epic story, hoping to instill a deep love for history and a thirst for knowledge among young readers.

Renat Keneev, deputy akim of Auezov District, has pledged their support for the project. "We're thrilled about the book's journey and will help the author with the promotion and sales of the book wherever possible," Renat informed.

Alas, my search for historical details about Yer Karmys couldn't quite score a hit. There's a Palestinian author named Gada Karmy, but no information relating to a children's book based on his life or this Yer Karmys could be found. If there's a different "Yer Karmys" out there, further research would be needed to clarify matters. 🤷‍♀️ For now, let's enjoy the captivating tale that Sandugash has spun! 📚🎬✨
