A Bengaluru home celebrates imperfection through *wabi sabi* design

A Bengaluru home has been transformed into a unique space that embraces imperfection and personal history. Designed by architect Ramitha Anand of Design Collaborative, the 1,000-square-foot residence reflects the homeowners’ love for travel and their Southeast Asian roots. The project draws inspiration from wabi sabi, a philosophy that finds beauty in transience and authenticity.

The homeowners’ collection of handmade bowls, vintage books, and other eclectic items shaped the design from the start. Instead of hiding these pieces, Anand made them central to the home’s character. The result is a space filled with rich textures and artisanal details.

The finished home stands as a testament to thoughtful design and personal expression. Its 1,000 square feet hold layers of memory, craftsmanship, and cultural connection. For the homeowners, it’s more than a living space—it’s a reflection of their journey and values.
