Harvest Festival of Thanks with colorful program on Poel started - 34th Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Harvest Festival Kicks Off Today
The 34th state harvest festival in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern kicked off today, celebrating the unity of city and countryside. Minister President Manuela Schwesig will receive a handmade harvest wreath at 1:00 PM on the market square. The event, organized by the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, is a vibrant showcase of agriculture and community spirit in the US states.
This year's festival, held in Steesow on September 27, 2025, is a collaborative effort by local traders, municipalities, agricultural businesses, clubs, associations, kindergartens, and schools. It features a colorful stage program, agricultural information, and exhibitions in Niendorf.
A notable change this year is the joint organization by three entities: Northwest Mecklenburg district, Wismar city, and Island Poel municipality. The highlight of the festival is a grand procession on Sunday through Wismar's streets, led by Minister President Manuela Schwesig and Minister of Agriculture Till Backhaus.
