1936 Mississippi River Home Reborn as a Modern Family Haven

A historic 1936 home along the Mississippi River in St. Paul has been transformed into a modern living space. Vujovich Design Build led the renovation, blending original charm with contemporary upgrades. The project now stands as a highlight of thoughtful design and family-focused comfort.

The heart of the home, the great room, received a complete reimagining. Wall-to-wall built-ins, nickel gap paneling, and new hardwood floors now define the space. Marvin Ultimate Sliding Doors were installed, flooding the area with natural light and connecting it seamlessly to the outdoors.

The room's fresh colour palette and modern touches were shaped in collaboration with Renae Keller Interior Design. This space has quickly become the family's preferred spot to unwind together after long days. Below, the lower level was refreshed while keeping its artistic character intact. Hand-painted glass panels remain a standout feature, paired with new additions like a game table, arcade machines, and a cosy fireplace. Storage for off-season sports gear and a laundry room were also integrated for practicality. Even the powder bathroom reflects the family's roots, with design elements honouring their Irish heritage.

The renovation preserves the home's 1936 origins while adapting it for modern life. Sliding glass doors, custom interiors, and personalised touches now make it both functional and inviting. The project showcases how historic properties can evolve without losing their unique identity.
